Dog Friendly Breaks at Court Farm Holidays

When it comes to taking the perfect holiday in Cornwall all of the family should be involved and we think that should include your canine companions too. With over two thirds of our properties at Court Farm Holidays being dog-friendly and a wide range of breathtaking beaches, wonderful walks and family attractions that allow dogs in the area, we think it’s a no brainer to bring your family’s best friend along for the staycation of a lifetime.

Just to prove how pooch perfect this amazing area of the world is, we have rounded up a few of our favourite dog-friendly beaches, attractions, and walks right here. This however is only a select few, so please feel free to ask any of our brilliant staff for more recommendations before or during your stay!

Dog Friendly Beaches:

With restrictions for dogs on some of the beaches and not on others it can be a bit of an issue finding the right places to take your furry friends, so we’ve done the hard work so you don’t have to and picked our favourite three…

Widemouth Bay Dog Friendly Beach

Widemouth Bay

This beautiful expanse of Cornish Coastline is a surfers paradise and a local favourite all year round.  Between May and September dogs are only allowed on the main beach before 10am and after 6pm, however the south end of the beach is dog friendly all year round giving you the opportunity to have that sea day with your furry friends. Widemouth also houses the Bay view Inn, Widemouth Manor, Widemouth Bay cafe and the Beach House all of which are dog-friendly and serve up a variety of food drinks and water bowls.

Sandymouth

With no seasonal restrictions for dogs at all this National Trust run beach is a pet owners dream. With a vast stretch of sand revealed at low tide this beach can also often be much quieter than its local counterparts in the height of summer. If you and your family are keen for a beach walk with the dog, the two miles from Crooklets to Sandymouth at low tide is a must and you can be rewarded with a dog-friendly cafe at Sandymouth which is open during the summer months. We always recommend talking to a local lifeguard if you are unsure about tides as they can fluctuate massively and are potentially very dangerous.

Northcott Mouth Dog Friendly Beach Bude

Northcott Mouth

Our guests staying at Court Farm Holidays Northcott have direct access to this gem of a beach which also happily happens to be dog-friendly all year round. A rugged pebbly cove at high tide with a variety of sandy expanses, rock pools, streams and even a shipwreck being revealed at low tide, this spectacular stretch of seashore has it all, perfect for every member of the family whether they are on four legs or two.

Wonderful Dog Friendly Walks:

There is miles of unspoilt Cornish countryside around our all of properties at Court Farm Holidays and a range of wonderful walks right on our doorsteps, from the Beautiful Bude canal running right past our Marhamchurch site and direct access to the stunning Cornish coast path at our Northcott properties, there’s a walk for even the most adventurous of paws.

Bude Canal

Opened in 1825 this historically rich Bude landmark is a great for a gentle walk and perfect for those with pushchairs or older dogs with its easy going towpath that runs alongside the canal. Beautiful in spring when its banks are lined with primroses and a great place for a picnic and stroll in the summer for all the family. If you’ve got a more active hound why not hire a bicycle or a kayak and enjoy a day on wheels or on the water.

Bude Coastal Path Dog Friendly Walk

Northcott Mouth to Bude

This walk is a great summer favourite for dog walkers as it passes the dog-friendly beaches of Summerleaze and Northcott. A beautiful stretch of coastline perfect for a wander as its terrain is pretty easy going compared to other parts of the Cornish coast path. Paths can get muddy after rain so do take appropriate footwear and beware of getting too close to cliff edges at any time of year. More information on all of the walks here can be found at  Visit Bude>

Tintagel to Boscastle Harbour

A longer, five mile, coast path walk walk that takes about three hours to complete but is definitely worth the effort. Walking from the visitors favourite of Tintagel, where there are amazing ruins of a castle that legend tells was the home of King Arthur, all the way to the pretty fishing village of Boscastle. There are a range of great amenities at both ends and the path is relatively easy going so appropriate for walkers of all abilities, there is even a bus service that runs between the two villages so you can easily get back.

Dog Friendly Attractions:

There are a plethora of dog-friendly attractions in Cornwall and we’ve only picked our top two here, but the staff at Court Farm Holidays are always happy to advise you on some more before or after your stay so don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Eden Project

Eden Project

Perhaps the most famous attraction in Cornwall, this wonder of biodiversity is less than an hours drive from any of our properties and is a mesmerising day out for all the family including our dogs which are welcomed all year round. This reclaimed clay pit is dominated by two Biomes, housing tropical and Mediterrean environments showing off all manner of world flora and fauna, as well as bountiful botanical gardens outside. This amazing day out will satisfy all the family and even the most discerning of horticulturists and you can say you’ve visited the largest indoor rainforest in the world to boot.

Lanhydrock and Respryn:

This Jacobean, and latterly Victorian, country house and estate is a must see for anyone wishing to live out their Downton Abbey fantasies. With extensive gardens and beautifully manicured estate grounds it’s great for a sophisticated stroll. With dogs welcome all year and a wealth of walks outlined on the National Trust website this is a perfect summer’s day outing for you and your dogs.
