Six Spooktacular Things to do in the October Half Term in Bude
It’s that time of year again, the children are growing restless, the leaves are turning from lush green to gold and amber and the thoughts of an Autumnal break are increasingly large in the mind. It must be time for all the festivities, frolics and family fun times that the October half-term and of course Halloween can bring!
The great thing about this time of year in Cornwall, aside from the beautiful panoramas bathed in golden autumnal light and the perfect surf, is that with the October half-term comes a veritable plethora of family-friendly Halloween events and activities, perfect for keeping the little ones (and some of the bigger ones too) happy for a whole week-long holiday.

1. Strawberry Fields Pumpkin Fest
Just a 35-minute drive away from our gates, here at Court Farm Holidays, is the wonderful Strawberry Fields farm shop, a delight at any time of the year but especially around Halloween. Strawberry Fields, just over the border in Lifton, Devon, has run its sensational Pumpkin Fest since 2016 and is far more than just its breathtaking pumpkin patch, which has to be seen to be believed! Pumpkin Fest runs throughout the half-term and is filled with activities and entertainment such as; magic shows, face painting, the barrel train, the Pirate Maize Maze, a host of fabulous festive food options in the Food Barn and a plethora of photo opportunities for all the family across the farm. On top of all that the farm shop is one of the best in the area, packed full of locally sourced treats and other tasty tidbits. One not to miss this October half-term holiday.
2. Halloween Hocus Pocus at The Milky Way
One of the great things about our location here at Court Fram is that we are just a stone’s throw from the border with Devon, meaning you and your family can enjoy the best of Cornish and Devonian hospitality during your stay. Another fabulous family day out during the Halloween period is Halloween Hocus Pocus at The Milky Way. Alongside the usual riot of rides, attractions and family fun, The Milky Way gets its Halloween on in a big way! With Schools of witchcraft and wizardry, swamp dodgems, Merlin Halloween Show, and spooky storytelling, to name but a few, the Halloween Fun at this awesome adventure park is definitely spooktacular!
3. Live Music in Proper Cornish Pubs
Over half-term, the pubs of Cornwall are pulling out all the stops with a whole host of fantastic musical treats. If you like to immerse yourself in Cornwall you can’t get much more Cornish than sitting back with a pint of cider and enjoying one of the fantastic local artists we have so many of in this fair county. 4. Heligan Halloween
For the budding horticulturalists, The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a Cornish gem. This gorgeous garden is an amazing place to lose yourself in history and take in the breathtaking restoration the brains behind the Eden Project have done here. At Halloween, the gardens are transformed with some of the most amazing pumpkin carvings you will have ever seen as well as a few other shocking surprises.
5. Relax in Your Private Hot Tub

5. Creepy Crab Invasion at the National Lobster Hatchery
For those of you who like your Halloween fun to be a bit educational and to help with the vital work of marine conservationists, The National Lobster Hatchery is a great option. You can experience pioneering marine conservation in action alongside the beautiful estuary in Padstow, by visiting one of the only conservation projects open to the public, worldwide. And over Halloween and half term the team have a great selection of spooky games and activities as well as a few spooky crabs, to keep the whole family entertained too.
