There are many superb traffic-free cycle routes to explore, suitable for all ages and abilities accessible from your cottage doorstep. Bude’s cycle path for one follows the route of the old canal from Marhamchurch, through the Nature Reserve into the centre of the town and is just minutes away from Court Farm and Northcott Farm.
The Atlantic Highway (A39) links to the Sustrans Route, where you can continue south to the Camel Trail or north to the Tarka Trail.
Approximately 40 minutes drive away in the town of Wadebridge, you’ll find the Camel Trail – a 20 mile largely traffic free level network of cycle paths, running from Padstow to Wenford Bridge via Wadebridge and Bodmin. Easily accessible by Bus (or a half-hour drive), Bridge Bike Hire operate from Wadebridge, but offer a “Go By Cycle” service, where they deliver bikes throughout Cornwall and South Devon.
Approximately 50 minutes drive away, in Braunton, you will find the start of the Tarka Trail, offering 21 miles of level, scenic traffic-free walking and cycling paths from Braunton to Great Torrington via Barnstaple and Bideford. Tarka Trail Cycle Hire beside the railway station offer bike hire. Spend an hour, a day, or cycle the whole length – there are numerous places to start and stop along the route and a host of cafes and villages where you can refuel and rest your legs.
Mountain Biking
The stunning settings of Cardinham Wood, Lanhydrock and Haldon Forest Park are all within an hours drive and offer excellent, purpose-built off-road and mountain bike tracks.
Featuring everything from child-friendly paths to skills areas and red routes for experienced mountain bikers, each destination also features a superb café for pre- or post-ride refreshment!

We do have small selection of bikes available to hire, together with a trailer, tag-a-long and child seats for smaller children.
